Mark Swart – Sculptor
Sculpture Title: “Wave” (Size L-900 X W-176 X H-330)
Medium: African Teak and Stainless Steel
Mark Swart – a very talented sculptor, kindly donated an African teak and Stainless steel sculpture to the HYF Foundation for a fundraiser held in London recently. Jason Hinde together with the HYF made this auction/donation to the Adopt-A-School Foundation fundraiser possible in support of their quest to improve South Africa’s schools and build a brighter future for its children.
‘I am honored to donate Mark Swart’s sculpture, from the HYF art stable, to the Chairman of the Adopt-A-School Foundation, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa. The art piece, generously donated by Mark, traveled with me to London and was auctioned at the 2015 Adopt-A-School Foundation London fundraiser held at the Inter Continental Park Lane Hotel on Thursday, 28 May 2015.
Celebrated South African sculptor Mark Swart has given expression to this purely abstract sculpture called ‘Wave’. The connotation that an idea has the potential to conquer like a wave in the ocean – determined, powerful and strong, symbolising a future of opportunity and prosperity.
With sponsorship from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and the Shanduka Group, the Foundation was able to raise over £ 300 000.00 through table sales, pledges and a very successful auction.
The Adopt-A-School Foundation envisions a future where the circumstances of a child’s birth do not determine the course of their life. I am hugely humbled by the remarkable success that the Foundation has achieved to date. It has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of learners, created opportunities for hundreds of small black businesses and brought hope to poor communities across South Africa’.
